Description

  • Blood Sugar Level:
    • This test measures the amount of glucose in your blood. Elevated blood sugar levels can indicate diabetes, which is often associated with an increased risk of developing certain types of arthritis, such as gout.
  • ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate):
    • ESR measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube. An increased ESR indicates inflammation in the body, which is commonly seen in arthritis or other inflammatory diseases. It’s not specific to arthritis but helps indicate the presence of inflammation.
  • Uric Acid:
    • Uric acid is a waste product of metabolism, and high levels of it can lead to gout, a form of arthritis. Gout occurs when uric acid crystals accumulate in the joints, causing severe pain and inflammation.
  • Creatinine:
    • Creatinine is a waste product produced by muscles and filtered out by the kidneys. Abnormal levels can indicate kidney problems. Since some arthritis medications can affect kidney function, it’s useful to monitor creatinine levels in patients with arthritis.
  • RA Factor (Rheumatoid Arthritis Factor – Quantitative):
    • The RA factor is an antibody present in the blood of many people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This test helps diagnose RA by measuring the concentration of the RA factor. Higher levels may suggest the presence of RA, though it’s not exclusive to it.
  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein – Quantitative):
    • CRP is a protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Higher CRP levels in the blood indicate active inflammation in the body. It’s often used to assess the severity of conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases
